The boat, Panacea, is a Robert Perry Offshore 48 built by Cheoy Lee Shipyard in Hong Kong.  She was built in 1980 and looks great for her age.

Panacea has a long keel and a skeg mounted rudder...not to slow but not too fast either.

The first job was to keep the engine from squirting oil and fuel into the bilge...need I say more

Then the cleanup and painting

At this point I was up more than 40 hrs, but ready to launch with the engine purring like a kitten, the bilge clean and bright, and a stuffing box leaking like *&^% (turns out to have only one of the two adjustment screws actually functional)

Ready for more work.  We added a life raft, GPS EPIRB, Sat phone, computer, Watermaker, Wind generator, new cushions, all new sails, new furling unit, new halyards, a big enough anchor and chain so we can sleep at night...never works out like that though.  It took 7 months from the decision to go to the actual departure...on schedule, even though our to do list is still growing.
